What IIF is

The II Foundation was established in 2009 to govern the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games' international legacy programme, International Inspiration.

As of 31 January 2013 the II Foundation will transfer its assets and liabilities to the charity IDS (established in 1990) to form a new charity partnership.  A number of II Foundation Trustees will join the reformed IDS Board.

Going forward the charity will be known as International Inspiration: International Development through Sport, and will be launched formally during 2013.

II Foundation Trustees are confident that the bringing together of two charities  with shared values, an expert Board and a common commitment to the development of children and young people in low and middle income countries through the medium of sport will secure and enhance the continuing legacy of the International Inspiration programme.  Successful completion of the remaining International Inspiration country programmes will be a priority for Trustees of the new Charity.

II is London 2012's official international sports legacy programme, developed to deliver on promises made during London’s Olympic bid campaign to create a lasting legacy of inspiring young people through sport. International Inspiration (II) aims to enrich the lives of 12 million children in 20 countries in the lead up to the 2012 games, showing young people all over the world that they have choices and opportunities, and that sport can be a powerful tool for personal development.
